Lake Skinner is a large reservoir located about 10 miles northeast of Temecula. It feeds the Robert A. Skinner Treatment Plant which supplies Riverside and San Diego counties with drinking water (San Diego County has a number of its own water treatment plants as well). The 630 million gallon per day plant was recently upgraded with a superior ozonation method of water purification and disinfection, making it one of the largest ozone facilities in the United States.

I took these pictures of the treatment plant in May during a water facilities tour I was invited to by the San Diego County Water Authority. The lake and reservoir photos are from a separate visit a few weeks ago. Around the lake there are numerous opportunities for camping, fishing, and recreation in a quiet remote setting.
