Water Authority seeks right-sized, cost-effective Bay-Delta Plan / San Diego County Water Authority : “The San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors on Thursday provided guidance to staff on the scope of its proposed analysis of alternatives for fixing water supply reliability and ecosystem problems plaguing the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay-Delta in Northern California. Over the past several years, water-use restrictions linked to the decline of native fish species in the Bay-Delta have curtailed water deliveries for two-thirds of California residents and Central Valley farms…”

MWD to replace turbidimeters at Skinner treatment plant / The Valley News : “The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California will be replacing 84 turbidimeters at the Robert A. Skinner Water Treatment Plant in Temecula. Skinner delivers a blend of Colorado River and State Water Project supply to the Eastern Municipal Water District, the Western Municipal Water District, and the San Diego County Water Authority…”

For 2013-2014, proposed water rates for the domestic/ single customer – using 25 units bi-monthly – will increase six percent. The Rainbow district currently receives 100 percent of its water from the San Diego County Water Authority, and the development of additional supplies would increase Rainbow’s water supply reliability while also helping to mitigate the price increases for imported water…”

CWA requests terms, conditions for Meadowood / The Fallbrook Village News : “The San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) board requested that the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) set formal terms and conditions for the Valley Center Municipal Water District’s proposed annexation of the Meadowood development area which would also annex that area into MWD and the SDCWA…The Valley Center district would also need to establish a new connection to the CWA aqueduct system to serve Meadowood. Other facilities would include a flow control facility, a water transmission pipeline from the CWA’s First Aqueduct or Second Aqueduct, and potable reservoir storage…”

The extension would have affected nearly a half-acre of wetlands with tributaries flowing into San Juan Creek and the surrounding watershed…”
