Shoshone Falls makes a splash at the Athenaeum Juried Exhibition

Posted by George J Janczyn on August 6, 2011

The La Jolla Athenaeum Music and Arts Library held its opening reception for the 20th Annual Juried Exhibition last night. Considered one of the most prestigious juried art shows in all of San Diego, the competition is open only to artists who live, work, or have exhibited in San Diego.

I was pleased to learn that my long-time friend and colleague James Soe Nyun was the first prize recipient.

Shoshone Falls, a digital photo based pigment print pictured here, is one of three pieces Jim submitted for the show.

Congratulations Jim!

The exhibition will be on display from August 6 through September 30 with 2-D and 3-D works by 23 local artists. Admission is free.

Juror #1: Kathryn Kanjo, Curator and Head of Curatorial, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego
Juror #2: Joseph Bellows, Owner of Joseph Bellows Gallery

In addition to the exhibition, you can see some of Jim’s creative work at his website. He also maintains an interesting and informative blog Lost in the Landscape: musings of an artist loosed in a garden where his photographic talent in all things botanic is revealed.

James Soe Nyun and his art.

  1. Thanks for the shout-out, George, and thanks for coming last night. It was terrific to see you guys again! The Athenaeum looks gorgeous in your photos (and of course in person too…)
