Reports on water system quake damage in the San Diego region
Posted by George J Janczyn on April 5, 2010
Updates on San Diego’s surrounding area water infrastructure news following the 7.2 Easter earthquake in northern Baja on April 4:
- Vital All-American Canal section stabilized / Imperial Valley Press
- The Imperial Valley Press reports severe damage to Calexico’s water treatment plant, with additional details from San Diego 6
- The Imperial Irrigation District reports minor damage to IID canals and equipment
- The San Diego Union-Tribune reports damage to an aqueduct supplying water to Tijuana while the LA Times indicates the aqueduct is being evaluated for damage but that should not affect water supply
- A foreign news report mentions water pipes damaged in San Diego, but the San Diego Water Department informed me there have been “no reports of any damage to the City water system (pipes, dams, pumps, etc.) due to the earthquake.”
